Cowboys trade back still land Micah Parsons

Micah Parsons may not have been the Cowboys number one target in the 2021 NFL Draft, he wasn’t even their number one need. But he might just be the best defensive player in the whole class and he fell to Dallas at number 12.

With both Patrick Surtain II and Jaycee Horn off the board in the two picks before Dallas went on the clock the Boys did the unimaginable and traded back to 12 with the Philadelphia Eagles adding a third round. With the Eagles taking a WR and the Bears coming up to 11 to take !B Justin Fields the Cowboys landed the big defensive whale of the 2021 NFL Draft class.

MICAH PARSONS COULD BE A GENERATIONAL TALENT AT LB

Now I get that a lot of fans may not be 100% happy with this pick. Corner was a much bigger need, but Micah Parsons is the very thing that every defence in the NFL coverts in the modern NFL. He’s a sideline-to-sideline defender who ran a 4.39-second forty in his pro day…the same as CB Jaycee Horn.

He can cover, he can get after the QB, and he can tackle. In 1,225 college snaps he missed just 11 tackles. He’s the epitome of an all field defender having recorded double digit snaps at DL, in the box, slot, and corner. He’s the kind of player that can ignite a defence and make it elite.

And in case you’ve forgotten, which I know you haven’t, the Cowboys D last year was a horror show.

Now there are well documented off-field issues from when he was younger that may have made some teams shy away from him with one of those premium top-10 picks. But Micah Parsons is the kind of play who is more than worth the risk because if it pays off he changes the trajectory of a defence.
